The
oldest and the largest of the new cities, this prosperous, thriving habitation
is only a dozen miles from the monstrous pile of the old Buenos Aires. When its
white domes first rose above the pampas, it was heralded as the dawn of a new
age for humanity – as has in fact proved – and its inhabitants still think
of themselves as leading 22nd century social progress. Buenos Aires
was mostly built by Mammon Inc, which retains the strongest presence there,
although Tagaro and NEO are well represented. There is a considerable ethnic
mix, as Buenos received many refugees from the Far East disasters: its Chinatown
is the largest of the eight cities. The people of Buenos have achieved a great
deal in restoring their local environment, greatly helped by their adoption of
local lore regarding the maintenance of stable ecosystems.
News
Citydwellers united to condemn the spillage of 5000 litres of hydrochloric
acid by careless Tagaro subsid Kena Chemicals, in the Cruz district early this
morning. Our own cleanup teams were soon in there helping to deal with the
spill, and make the city safe and clean again for all its people. Eco-kudos to
Raquel de la Peña, team leader.
Less good news is that the trade in char is still prospering. This
dangerous drug seems especially popular among the young, but arrests of
small-scale dealers have led no further.
A fire in Buenos's Chinatown, destroying a small supermarket. No serious
injuries, five taken to hospital with smoke inhalation damage. The fire was
swiftly and efficiently dealt with by Mammon subsid Phoenix Extinction.
